Chiropractic adjustment: A chiropractic adjustment is a spinal manipulation or joint manipulation administered by a chiropractor to realign or restore proper joint motion in the body, most commonly in the spine. Classically done by hand, although sometimes also with a small instrument called an activator, a high velocity low amplitude controlled force or thrust is applied to the misaligned or stuck vertebra to improve spinal motion, joint alignment, and to decrease nerve irritation and associated pain.
Acupuncture: Acupuncture is an age-old healing practice of traditional Chinese medicine in which thin needles are placed at specific points in the body. It's primarily used to relieve pain but also has been used to treat other conditions. More than 3 million Americans use acupuncture, but it is even more popular in other countries. Acupuncture seeks to release the flow of the body's vital energy or Qi "chi" by stimulating points along 14 energy pathways. The needles cause the body to release endorphins (natural painkillers) and boosting blood flow and changing brain activity.
Motor Vehicle Accident: Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar spine sprains and strains are another common back injury following a car accident. The force of impact can cause the muscles, tendons and ligaments in the spine to overstretch or tear. Sprains and strains usually lead to acute neck or back pain, tightness and muscle spasms. Chiropractic care will help speed up your recovery and protect you from experiencing any chronic pain in the long run. Chiropractic can reduce inflammation, increase range of motion, prevent scar tissue from forming, reduce pain, it can support and injury claim and is non-invasive.
Sports Recovery & Rehab: Sport specific rehab goes beyond recovery. It focuses on the mechanics and forces of your sport to prepare you to play again with equal or even better performance than before. When your body is used to the rigors of athletic activities, basic rehab just isn’t enough. You need an experienced sports therapist to get you back into prime condition to return to the sport you love.
Cupping: The suction created by the cups encourages blood flow and increases circulation, promoting healing, reducing pain and decreasing muscle tightness.
Massage Therapy: COMING SOON. Massage therapy uses touch to manipulate the muscles and other soft tissues of the body. With their touch, therapists relieve pain, help heal injuries, improve circulation, relieve stress, increase relaxation, and aid in the general wellness of clients.
Auricular Acupuncture works much the same way as traditional acupuncture, except it involves placing the needles or ear seeds only in points around the ear. Tiny needles or ear seeds are placed into specific points in each ear, and each point corresponds to organs. The goal of auricular acupuncture is to normalize the body’s dysfunction by stimulating certain points in the ear. The needles will be removed at the end of the treatment but the ear seeds can be left for 3 to 5 days. Ear seeds are beneficial because you can stimulate the point yourself by just pressing on the seed putting pressure in the specific acupuncture point.
Cosmetic Acupuncture works by increasing blood flow and stimulating the muscles beneath your face to improve their tone and conditioning. This improves your skin's elasticity, which helps smooth out wrinkles and lines. The needles inserted into the face affect collagen and elastin production which will help tone the skin. Collagen is a protein produced by our bodies that is responsible for our skin’s durability and resilience. Elastin is responsible for the elasticity of our skin. Acupuncture helps to stimulate the body’s natural processes of cell reproduction and growth. Needles are placed in the muscle motor points to re-educate the muscles back to their original placement, thus the face looks more sculpted, more youthful and lifted. Cosmetic Acupuncture is a safer alternative to Botox.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a skilled myofascial intervention used for soft-tissue treatment. It is applied using instruments that are usually made of stainless steel with beveled edges and contours that can conform to different body anatomical locations and allows for deeper penetration. It is used for the detection and treatment of soft tissue disorders. The instruments effectively break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue.
Physiotherapy helps the patient in different aspects of the healing process. We can use different modalities like ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, Russian stimulation and infrared therapy. These modalities will help our patients recover from surgery, injury or a condition that causes pain and dysfunction, so they can get back to the activities they enjoy
Exercise Rehabilitation is a personally prescribed set of exercises that range from active movement through to strengthening exercises using resistance bands, body Weight Loss/Control, or other equipment, dependent on the needs of the client condition & findings during assessment. Rehabilitation exercises aim to return full function following injury through re-building muscle strength, endurance, power and improving overall flexibility and mobility. Here at Platinum Chiropractic we understand that every patient, athlete, sport and injury is unique, so we personally tailor each rehab plan to YOU in order to maximize your potential.
Intersegmental Traction Table is a tool that chiropractors use to gently re-establish the normal range of motion for the body’s spine. These tables offer patients many chiropractic benefits. The helps by creating motion which can stretch the spinal joints and improve movement. It does this by mobilizing the spinal column while simultaneously stretching the muscles and ligaments. Benefits includes: • Regular use of the intersegmental traction table has shown to significantly accelerate the recovery progress from a back injury. • The roller table gently and effectively reestablishes the normal range of motion in the spine. • It helps reduce muscle spasms that can be caused by weakened postural muscles or spinal injuries. • The table helps increase blood flow and oxygen to your spinal discs, ligaments, and muscles, which can improve balance and strength.
Kinesiology Taping is a taping technique which alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin increasing interstitial space and allowing for decreased inflammation in affected areas. It has been proven to have positive physiological effects on the skin, lymphatic and circulatory system, fascia, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. It can be used in conjunction with a multitude of other treatments and modalities within your clinic and is effective during the rehabilitative and chronic phases on an injury as well as being used for preventative measures.
Muscle flossing is a compression therapy technique. It uses a heavy duty resistance band typically made of latex rubber to compress a joint or muscle group while performing certain movements through a full range of motion. It is meant to restore joint range of motion, increase blood flow to restricted areas, and compress swollen joints that lack motion and are stiff. Some of the more common areas wrapped include the quadriceps, hamstrings, ankles, elbows, shoulders, triceps, lower leg, biceps, and knees.
This type of therapy is called: Thermotherapy. Thermotherapy uses heat to relax soreness and bring comfort to the areas of pain. It also increases blood flow and circulation, which can result in more oxygen to these areas and pain relief. Heat causes the muscles to relax, this means you may experience a greater range of motion for those who have difficulty with mobility. If you have swelling due to fluid build-up, paraffin wax can reduce swelling as well. Paraffin wax offers a wonderful advantage for those with these conditions: - Arthritis - Fibromyalgia - Rheumatoid arthritis - Hand, Feet and Elbow Pain
The effect of acupuncture on a client’s emotions also plays an important role in aiding weight loss. Acupuncture affects the neuroendocrine system by blocking harmful neurochemicals to restore the natural balance of hormones and neurotransmitter levels. The resulting release of endorphins helps to reduce stress, which in turn helps to prevent the urge to overeat.
